Gazing for long into an abyss

Not long ago I wrote that I hoped I was “done” writing lengthy essays about organ donation. I also said that I would return to the topic if more information came to light. Sadly, that just happened. I have already identified plenty of (spiritual) concerns and raised the alarm when it comes to (the public perception of) organ donation, but at least everything I wrote about before happens in the realm of, shall we say, “altruistic organ donation”, where the donors give consent and money doesn’t change hands.

The problem is that there is also a lively and global illegal trade in organs. I think we have all heard random horror stories about people who were scammed into flying to an exotic country to meet a “romance partner they met online”, never to be seen again. Their mutilated bodies were eventually found on a remote beach, or on the city dump. We also hear an occasional sinister tale about some tourist who wakes up in a hotel in Bangkok, or somewhere else less well-regulated than the Western world, with a fresh wound, stitches and a missing kidney. We probably “write that off” as an extremely unfortunate course of events, or barely credible. Is this sensationalist reporting? Clickbait?

However, when something is technically (including medically) possible, there are always going to be devious minds that will take things to levels utterly beyond the imagination of “ordinary decent human beings”. When a dire scarcity of any kind (be that organs or babies) becomes profitable, a dark industry springs up around it to “source and deliver the goods”. My YouTube feed (curated by algorithms) just offered a link to an interview by Jan Jekielek with Doctor Torsten Trey. This doctor has spent years monitoring what is happening in China, and in response he has founded a non-profit organisation, called Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting, which released the special report “Forced Organ Harvesting From Living People in China” in 2022. This interview was originally released on Epoch TV on December 13, 2022 (but I only found it now).

In short: sixteen years ago the first whistle-blowers reported that the Chinese communist regime was killing Falun Gong practitioners* for their organs. In other words: China forces healthy citizens to become organ donors, and they die on the operation table in large numbers.

*Falun Gong, also called Falun Dafa, is a new religious movement founded by its leader Li Hongzhi in China in the early 1990s.

As Dr Trey says in this interview: how evil is this? Not only are healthy citizens (of all ages) deliberately killed to provide organs for other people, but large sums of of money are made from the sales of those organs. People profit from this trade! Dr Trey gives the example of a patient from Israel paying a large sum of money to be fast-tracked: “matched with the perfect organ” at short notice. In other words: you are paying for an innocent person in China, who is the perfect match for your needs, to killed on demand.

It is hard to believe that this is even true. Is this still happening right now? And if so, why is “no one” talking about it? Trey explains the situation as follows: “China tries everything … to use bribery, to use other influence to stop newspapers from reporting about this issue. The regime also exerts pressure at the highest levels of medical organizations. If you think about it, if the Chinese government is willing to kill people, not only a few, but on an industrial level … think of what mindset [that is]. And if they do this to their own people, what do you think the Chinese government [would] do to foreigners? We didn’t react to it in time, probably because we thought China is so far away. Why should we care? … And a few years later, you are hit by a pandemic that is spread from China.”

The Covid-19 Pandemic is whole other topic and I have no desire to promote conspiracy theories, but Dr Trey provides compelling evidence, based on years of monitoring, research and reading reports out of China. I suggest that you watch the video for yourself:

And just to state the obvious: all the material covered here was researched and put together by other people. My only insignificant contribution to this cause is sharing the information, because I think the world needs to know about this and to think long and hard about the sinister shadow industries that are springing up around organ donation. (And exactly the same thing is true for monetized surrogacy).

I listed to another interview recently (and no sorry, I did not make note of the link) where someone explained that hospitals in the Western world already know “not to ask too closely” about where certain donor organs come from. There was also a story about a super wealthy (foreign) family based in the UK who brought a teenage boy from a developing country to the UK (promising his parents he would have work, income and a good education) and this boy ended up as an involuntary organ donor for this family. Just to say: stuff like this is not only happening in China… Our collective lack of awareness allows it to spread to our countries and enter Western health care systems.

When our youngest son was (only) nine years old he once said: “I wish people would stop making so many movies about evil monsters for entertainment. Because if you imagine monsters for long enough, you will create monsters!” And I think that was a very wise child’s version of the Nietzche quote I put at the top of this piece.

I will continue to write about matters like this but I will balance this with posts about forest witch life, sacred art and the stunning beauty around me here in Sweden - just to “save my sanity”. And if ever I start sounding unhinged, kindly warn me in the comment section…
