I would have forgotten to do one this year if I hadn't seen this! Thanks for sharing.

This week we stay in a little house in the woods in the area with many Burial mounds.

A good time and place for this walk I think. New Years Day at sunset . Very curieus what I will see and learn.

I love it that we share this ancient tradition which has come down to us through time and been adopted into the Christian tradition as well. The reading of signs is so immediate. May the New Year bring you joy and fulfilment!

But I had wrongly been informed that it had to be done on Christmas Day…to me it seemed far more appropriate to do so at NY.

It can be done either way but Christmas Day has strong significations and energies in its own right. Doing it at NY might bring more clarity for that reason. But as my essay explains, choose a day that has significance or feels appropriate to you! Good luck!

I've done a few of these kinds of walks over the years and they are always insightful. Thanks for the prompt to do one for the year ahead. I'll be doing my full rune spread on New Year's Say(throwing the runes out and seeing what they say). I always record my insights and then play it back at the end of the year.

My walk will be in a stormy South Devon ancestral landscape. I'll let you know how I get on!

Reading that, for a moment a storm embraces me in an ancestral landscape! (I am waiting for snow to arrive here in Sweden!)
