I really enjoyed this article. I have slowly been building a relationship with Baba Yaga over the last few years and find her wildness teaches me a lot. It was wonderful to learn more about her; thank you for sharing Imelda x
Thank you Lucy! This is a very personal take on her but I acknowledge her as a huge teacher and force in my life. Wild blessings on your own evolving relationship with her!
Over protective parents who hover over children and sweep all challenges out of their way, essentially infantilising them. A German colleague told me the German phrase!
I am grateful to be reminded to be on the lookout for Baba Yaga. Hooray, Imelda, thank you! This is hard for me, because she is truly a person "of Nature" and I tend to think of Nature as plants, animals, stones, soil, rivers. . . .etc but, I do not seek the wild aspect of humans since that is usually presented in an aggressive and ugly way. I need to let my "receiving" self be quiet and deliver what needs most to be delivered!
Thank you for your reflections! I think we need to make a clear distinction between the "wild" part of people (one with all natural rhythms, unafraid of death, able to grieve) and people who are "out of control". To me they are not the same thing at all! May Baba Yaga pay you a gentle visit.... X

Thank you for this interesting post. I love your artwork, too. What is tiger parenting and how is it related to Germany?

Interesting.

Speaks to me in many ways. Thanks for flushing out and illuminating more salient details.
I think she wanted to appear here! Thank you!
So inspiring! I first met Baba Yaga in college, and she has resurfaced in my life in recent years. I love hearing about your adventures with her.
I am sure the adventures with her will continue, for both of us! :)
Wonderful! Did you meet her while you were learning Russian? She becomes more important for every day I grow older....
I did! The language combined with the folklore conjured her in my life. It was a very interesting time!
