Oh yes! I recognise a bunch of these! I've just reviews your North Sea Water book which should appear in the next few days on Amazon. I very much enjoyed it, thank you.

Thank you so much Caitlin! I will keep an eye out for the review! Still hoping to make it to Oxford some time this year but I am going to be overseas a lot. Much love!

"You compare them to themselves!" I read this as "You conjure them to themselves!" perhaps this is true too?

Thank you for sharing part 2. Once again so much resonates. I remember having to make very firm boundaries with Loki at yours one day!

Very interesting, about the conjuring. I will need to sit with that! As for Loki.... yeah... Many beginner students of Seidr and Norse studies take "god husbands" too lightly, if you ask me! :)

Ancestral healing work is so important as I have found, it helps us to also see more deeply into our own shadow work. The difficult, disturbing and traumatic storylines I've unearthed in my own deep family history has brought up so many uncomfortable truths to be worked through. But when doing this work, and through the heart, I found has enabled me to deepen my understanding of compassion and forgiveness.

Truth! Every word of this! Maybe I should plan a post here about Ancestral Healing work....

Yes. That would be a good read. I found there are also many spiritual narcissists making thousands of dollars on expensive programmes in the ancestral healing industry too. One American in particular I shall not name, but very heavily promoted work, and an almost cult like following. Very dictatorial too...I did sign up for a course some years ago but soon asked for a refund when my intuitive radar went off. Another British guy too doing Shamanic Bee work, who has basically plagerised a British female author's previously published work.

Yes, I am aware of both actors in the industry and what is unfolding there. Truth will out, sooner or later....

I liked your essay very much, and recognized a lot. O yes , we have to blame or thank ourself for every that happens to us ! 🥴.

I don’ t give often healings but I make paintings and I am familiar with the generous offer to show my work in somebody’s restaurant for free publicity !

I liked your article on the narcissism. As a healer and an educator on metaphysics, I think I am missing something because to get people to even buy a book is so hard. The Christians I know give me the hex symbol or offer to pray for me. Sigh, anyway - I do meet and avoid the toxic positivity, "Hi Dear Neighbour, how are you?" and when I don't answer they are oblivious. They've been so nice. Advice on words to use maybe so that people would want to have a self-inspiring guide at their finger-tips. My website is now my name to make it easy for people to look it up. www.victoriafabling.com

I don't know if there are specific words to use. I think what communicates most loudly is integrity. Good luck!

Arnold Mindell has a very useful concept (not his words) about what I'd call "collective karma". So people in war zones, or who have no option but migration, or are victims of pandemic or endemic illness, are suffering something that our species, our civilizations, have collectively created in the course of our evolution. This means a) they are NOT individually responsible (this is obvious as you point out) and b) we are ALL affected by and involved in and to an equal degree responsible for and potentially subject to these forms of suffering.

Also, I very much appreciate the clarity and simplicity of how you formulate and explain what shadow work is. So crucial in every relationship, so very difficult for many (perhaps I should all of us!) to grasp.

Hi Sarah,

I have followed Arnold Mindell's work in the past but thank you for pointing me back in his direction. When I started doing shamanic healing work (largely with individuals but sometimes with entire families) I soon realised that significant healing could not occur unless I did ancestral healing work. Once I committed to that, even larger patterns moved into view, between groups, civilisations, historically and currently etc. And then I started working on that level instead. I agree with every word you write here!

People fear shadow work but, really, it sets us free. There is also a "golden shadow" locked away deep inside us....
