Your bone mother drawing is arresting, and it called up a question in me: is there a bone father? I'm suddenly reminded of some imagery I was experimenting with when I was younger, and I realized it might tie into that idea.

Yes, there is. I discovered that when someone commissioned me to make a personalised painting of the Bone Mother for her - and she insisted on being depicted in the embrace of the Bone Father. And the Russian Baba Yaga has a male counterpart:

"In East Slavic areas, Baba Yaga has a male counterpart, Koshchei Bessmertnyi, "Koshchei the Immortal." His name, from kost' ("bone"), bears the notion of a dying and rising god, that is, a deity who cyclically dies and is reborn. "

Hope that is helpful!

Dispite reading this from the beginning I read the words preparing to fly to Greenland and my heart jumped I felt like a toddler it's not fair she's going again!! I laughed. Greenland has well and truly stolen my heart. Thank you for sharing these beautiful drawings. My packing for our trip centre around what art materials I could fit in. ❄️🩵🥰

Same at my end! You may all have noticed I only had two functional outfits that I rotated. Greenland is no fashion walk, so roll on the art materials! And I hope that all the bones made it home safely, the chosen ones?! ; )

All bones safely home. Some on my altar dedicated to Greenland and others waiting to be cleaned and then be part of art
