15 minutes at 8 degrees is a long time! The island I live on in Canada has ocean temps of 7-11 degrees and I haven’t made it past 3 minutes I don’t think. But I’ve been cold dipping and not actually swimming, so now I’m inspired.
I love hearing about cowslip and the connection to freya.
Well, I was wearing thermal top designed for kayaking - which helps! Also, this is a lake/fjord, not open sea with big waves. :) I am hoping to write more about plants and the Old Norse Traditions as the summer unfurls. Let's see!
I must say I admire you courage! I was never attracted to swim in cold water myself. As a kid I had swimming lessons in the river Spui . The lessons were cancelled at a temperature below 12 degrees. That was cold enough for me 😬. But you never know.
Close by where I live now there are always dozens of swans in the river and two swans pass often in the water right behind our house. But they never give me the idea that I am invited to come and swim with them.
Oh my goddess, this sounds heavenly! I had my first dip in the sea of the year last Thursday and it always feels like coming home to myself <3 Maybe I should invest in something like a wetsuit so I can swim longer...
You live in Cyprus, so that is the Mediterranean, right? I am not wearing a wetsuit this time of year but I did buy a thermal top (intended for kayaking) which you can see in the picture! Those bits of gear do make a difference :) X
It's a top! That sounds perfect, really 💜 Yes, it's the Mediterranean Sea so it's no longer cold (although I've been here long enough to complain it's still cold 😂), but the idea of swimming all year round, with a thermal top over my bathing suit...
